Save the Date: ASBPE Regional Awards Banquet, July 22

The Boston/New England Chapter of ASBPE will be holding an Awards Banquet and networking evening at Verona Restaurant in Watertown Square on the evening of Thursday, July 22, 2010. Please mark your calendars!

Azbee Awards

The awards part of the event will recognize regional winners in this year's annual Azbees. ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence program is one of the most competitive there is for business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications. The awards recognize outstanding work by magazines, newsletters, and digital media — Web sites, e-newsletters, digital magazines, and blogs. The competition is open to all U.S.-based publications. ASBPE membership is not required for entry, but members receive a discount on entry fees. In 2009, ASBPE began holding separate Print and Digital Azbee Awards programs. The digital awards operate on a later schedule than the print awards.

Speaker

This year’s featured speaker is Paul Teague, a 19-year veteran of Cahners and Reed Business Information. A Neal Award winner, he was most recently editor of Purchasing. Previously, he had been editor and national editor of Design News and also served a term as cochairman of the Cahners Chief Editors Advisory Board. Paul will speak about the history of this important publishing organization and its many alums that have seeded the communications industry nationwide. Reed/Cahners vets are encouraged to join us!

Networking

ASBPE Boston/New England chapter welcomes members and nonmembers. In particular, we are inviting participation by Media Chowder – a local media networking group – as well as members of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Event details will be posted soon.

Questions? Please contact chapter president Alan Earls.

6/17/10 update: Event details are now available.

A separate banquet will be held in New York City on July 28 for the national and Northeast region award winners who live in that area. Details will be posted on the New York chapter page.
