Northeast Regional Azbee Awards Banquet is July 16

Update, July 9, 2008: The Boston banquet has been canceled. There will be only one Northeastern Region banquet this year, in New York City.

Set aside the evening of Wednesday, July 16, for the Northeast Region Azbee Awards of Excellence Banquet.

Before the awards are given out, author and magazine consultant John "Jack" Brady will speak. His topic: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Magazine Editors.

Brady is an editor, author and magazine consultant. He was editor-in-chief of Writer’s Digest and Boston magazine, and founding editor of The Artist’s Magazine and M: The Magazine for Montessori Families. He served as deputy editorial director at Warner Bros. Records, and as associate editor for the 13-30 Corporation publishing group (later called Whittle Communications). Brady has been a partner in Brady & Paul Communications, a magazineworks and publishing consultancy with offices in New York City, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Newburyport, Mass., since 1984.

With magazine designer Greg Paul, he has overseen the redesign and repositioning of hundreds of publications and assisted with the launch of numerous new magazines. Brady is the author of the five books, including The Craft of Interviewing (Random House), widely used in journalism programs. His most recent book is The Interviewer’s Handbook: A Guerilla Guide for Reporters and Writers (The Writers Books), published in May 2004.
